  • Notes
    • Margaret was born about 1320 elder daughter of Sir John de Cambrun of Baledgarno.

Margaret married John Halyburton the son of John second son of Sir Adam Halyburton of Dirleton.

      They had issue:
      1.) Walter heir to Dirleton

      2.) George of Gogar

3.) Jean, m. Henry St.Clair earl of Orkney

About 1350 on the death of her father without male issue, Margaret and her sister Johanna became heirs portioner to the estate of Sir John Cambrun. She was entitled to half of the estate but as elder sister she gained the title of Baledgarno. It appears that she also gained the lands of Cameron in the Sheriffdom of Edinburgh.

Her husband succeeded to the title of Dirleton on the death of his uncle Sir Walter about 1380. It was probably on the death of Margaret Cameron that her husband John Halyburton, Lord of Dirleton, gave licence to alienate in perpetual alms, all the lands of Cameron in the sheriffdom of Edinburgh, to the Altar of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Musselburgh and to a chaplain to celebrate there. Their eldest son Sir Walter Halyburton was witness to this grant.

The Halyburtons then held the baronies of Direlton, Baledgarno and Abernyte.

The lands of Baledgarno remained with her descendants until the 1470's, when on 9 Dec 1471 George, Lord Haliburton directed a Precept of Sasine to Walter Kynnaird of Inchture, Andrew Moncur of that ilk,and James Maitland, which ordered sasine to be given to James Scrimgeour, constable of Dundee, of the Mains of Baledgerno, lying in the barony of Baledgarno and in 1475 the same George Halyburton baron of Baledgarno granted the lands of Baledgarno to Andrew Gray of Baledgarno.
