    Notes:

    John's parents were Samuel and Lydia Hopkins Fitzhugh who, together with their eight children, moved to Davidson County from Guilford County, NC, between 1801-1804.

    They later lived in Madison County, Tennessee and he and his wife had 14 children.

    Found in 1860 Census at age 69, living with dauther Angelina and supposed housekeeper Lydia Goodman age 30. Confirms birth in North Carolina and was a farmer with substantial holdings.

    Also found in 1850 Census age 58 living with daughters Martha, Susan, Margaret, (Angeline) Paulina and son John. (with one female slave, aged 58)

    John B. Fitzhugh purchased the family homeplace from some of his siblings.

This graveyard was found when the Christ Church, on Hickory Blvd. east of Ogelisby, was clearing land for their Memorial Gardens cemetery a few years ago.

Nancy married John Blackman; Charles married Anne Blackman; and Susannah married Bennett Blackman. These three couples left the Sampson County, NC area as a group and migrated to Davidson County, TN about 1796.

    John Hays and his wife Tabitha had three children - Nancy, Charles and Susannah. These three siblings married three BLACKMAN siblings. Nancy married John Blackman; Charles married Anne Blackman; and Susannah married Bennett Blackman. These three couples left the Sampson County, NC area as a group and migrated to Davidson County, TN about 1796.
