    An interesting fact is that in the 1850 Sumter County Alabama Census, there is a John Kearney listed. Choctaw County was previously part of Sumter County. This John Kearney lived near John Carney and Mary A Simmons. This John Kearney states that he was born in Ireland. It appears that his mother-in-law is also listed, as follows:
