HENRY FITZHUGH was born in 1614 in Bedford, Bedfordshire County, England to William Fitzhugh & Margaret Smith.

Henry was a Woolen Draper by profession. It is documented that he was a Member of the Council 1648 - 1649; the Mayor of Bedford, England in 1649; and served as an Alderman 1650 - 29 September 1665. There was a portrait made of Henry Fitzhugh circa 1634, which ecame part of his son William Fitzhugh's estate, and today is part of the Virginia Historical Society's holdings.

It is said that Henry was in financial disaster in his final years, after a 1658 court ruling, and he left England to live in Cork, Ireland sometime after 5 September 1659 until his death circa September 1666.

William moved to Bedford from Great Barford in 1607 and on 06 Sep 1608, he married Margaret Smith of Milton, Bucks.

He was a maltster, as well as being a warden of Bedford's High Bridge.

William became a Churchwarden at St. Paul's in 1610. He was interred on 05 April 1633 in the South Chancel, west end, under the south wall. His wife survived him and is buried at St. Michael le Querne, London.

William married Margaret SMYTHE on 6 Sep 1608 in Milton, Buckinghamshire, England. Born in Milton, Buckinghamshire, she was living in Great Barford, Bedfordshire, when she met and married William Fitzhugh in 1608.

The following year, they moved to the town of Bedford where William ran a maltings business and served as local church warden.

He predeceased Margaret, who was buried here at St. Michael-le-Querne just before it was destroyed in London's Great Fire of 1666. The church was never rebuilt.
