    Internet search indicates name NANIE, not Nannie. Database link Niecer. Alvarado Cemetery records indicate name of NANNIE F. RUSSELL

    When her father died, her step-mother left her and she was placed in a orphan's home about a year later. She and her brother Frank were left on Dr. Tye's porch and he kept them as long as he could.

    Notes:

    Wife died, from "privation", while he was away in the War, he packed up and moved to Texas with his children.
    He married some woman in Texas and when he died, she took everthing and left the two children on their own.

    From Linda (Garland) Hayes: According to the information that I have been able to discover, Samuel Jackson Garland took his family and migrated to Texas sometime after 1877. In this party whould have been at least Jack, Sarah Elizabeth ?Bettie? (2nd wife), Martha E., Nancy F., Jesse J., J. Daniel (3 children from 1st marriage and infant son from 2nd marriage), Mattie Hambrick (sister-in-law), and a second sister-in-law who may have been named Feby Hambrick. We don?t know if she died or married prior to the 1880 census.

    The 1880 Tarrant County, Texas census list all of Jack?s family except Feby Hambrick.

    Jesse was born ca 1760 in Halifax, NC., believed to be the brother of Elisha Garland who was married to Lucy Reeves. There is a possibility that Jesse was married to Lucy 's sister Sarah Reeves. Jesse and Elisha and their families were together in Pendelton, S.C. in 1790 where they both owned land. They both came to Davidson Co. Tn. around 1800. Elisha & Lucy lived in Davidson Co., Tn.until their deaths. Jesse & Sarah moved to Henderson Co. Tn. by 1830 as they were listed on the 1830 census.It is believed they died in Henderson Co., Tn.. between 1835 & 1845

    Will of Elisha Waldrop box 78, Package 200, Estate #1983 of Newberry County S.C. names wife P hebe and children.

    Elisha is listed as a planter in the Newberry District of South Carolina.
    Some of his children's names and birthdates were taken from the Bible of Solomon Tilman Fuller who married Phebe Anderson Waldrop about 1813. Will of James Waldrop Sr. dated 25 May 1798 and proved in court 30 July 1799 in Newberry County SC. shows that Elisha Waldrop was the son of James Sr.Box 78, Package 200 Estate 1983 in Probate Judges Office of Newberry County S.C.
    lists his will and children. Box 20 Package 43, Estate 464 in NewberryCounty SC. shows the estate of Mary Waldrop. Will in Books of Newberry County S.C. 1805-1826 volume 2, section E, page 18. Also various deeds.


    Death date also given as 4 Aug 1809.

    Notes:

    William Speight was born est 1778, in NC. His first born was Albert, born in Wake County in 1800. William then moved to Dickson County TN where the remaing three of his sons were born. (Jesse, William, Arthur). Two fellow researchers have said his wife's name is Mary Berton (or Benton), or Sally Bish. I have found a William & Sally Bish, but cannot prove them this is the only marriage or relative of mine. I have found little info on Mary Berton (or Benton).

    WILLIAM SPEIGHT settled in Dickson County from Wake County NC around 1800 or a little after. An old biography written by Tom Speight's great uncle said William settled on the "Westside of the Harpeth River around 1800". He had a son, Albert S. born around 1800. His other sons: Jesse M. b. 1805 Dickson, John T. (Alsey) b.abt 1807 Dickson, William D. b. 2-15-1811
