1.Maiden name of Grace unknown at this time. The register of Abington Parish, Gloucester Co., VA, where the births of many of John and Grace's children were recorded, lists the baptism on 8 October 1699 of Grace Hayward [Howard?], the daughter of Richard and Elizabeth Hayward [Howard?]. While this is the right timeframe for her birth, we have no more information on Grace Hayward.

2.The Register of Abingdon Parish, Gloucester Co., VA compiled by Robert W. Robins, 1981.

3.Note that there is nothing to definitely rule out the possibility that the John Burt who married Ann Howard was not John Burt Sr. remarrying after the death of his wife Grace.
