    Notes:

Descrepency - arrival in America Dec.15,1681, or January 9, 1681.
Robert Jeffries was the cousin of Judge George Jeffries, Baron of Wem, Chief Justice under King Charles II and Lord Chancellor of England under King James II, sometimes refereed to as the "Hanging Judge". George died a prisoner in the Tower of London in 1689.

Robert Jefferis, the immigrant ancestor, sailed from Bristol England in 1681, his destination the Province of Pennsylvania, granted to William Penn that same year by Charles II. After a two month voyage he "reached American on ye XVth of ye Tenth month, one thousand six hundred eighty one". This was January 9, 1681, for according to the "Old Style" of calandar the year began March 25th, which was called the first month.

The ship on which he came sailed up the Delaware Bay, and from thence went a
short distance up a creek to a settlement. As to weather they had a cold
reception, for the record states that the waters of the creek were frozen
and on account of ice, much trouble was experienced by the passengers in
getting ashore at "Robert Wade's landing." The settlement was called
"Uplands" and was the earliest made in the province. It was afterwards
named "Chester" by William Penn and is the oldest town in Pennsylvania,
located 13 miles southwest of Philadelphia. William Penn did not arrive in
the colonies until October of 1682 and by November of that same year was in
Uplands. For some time Penn made Uplands his headquarters. It has been put
down that Robert Jefferis was one of the settlers who greeted Penn on his
    arrival at Uplands.

The date of Robert Jefferis' birth has not been documented. Robert Jefferis
died April 4, 1739 and his age at that time as 83 years. Computing from
that time, we can set the year of his birth as 1656. His father was John
Jeffreys of Wiltshire, the son of Thomas Jefferys and a grandson of John
Jefferys of Acton. John Jefferys of Acton (1606-1690) married Margaret
Ireland, a daughter of Sir Thomas Ireland, Knight of Beausay. Sir Thomas
Ireland married Margaret Aston, whose ancestry can be documented to at least
six of the Barons who signed the Magna Carta.

The original stock of the Jefferies family was Scandinavian and Norse
Viking. It has been traced back to Normandy in 900 and in England in 1066.
The name was variously spelled: Godfriden, Godefrey, Jeerson, Jeffreys,
Godfrey, Geoffrey and Jefferis. Many of Robert Jefferis modern day
descendants use the spelling of Jeffries. A Geoffrey stood with Richard
Coeru de Lion in Jeffa when the King was attacked by a bear. Geoffrey
killed the bear with a sword. The Jefferies family of today are descendants
in the thirty fifth generation of the Earls of Chester. These Earls of
Chester were heirs to the Heptarch Kingdom of Mercia, whose monarchs sprang
from the fusion of the royal lines of the conquering Anglo Saxons, the
Bretwalds or overlords of Britian, the Lords of the Roman folk, and the line
of "Tea Tephi" daughter of Zedekiah, the last King of Judah, who fled to
Ireland and grandson of the Egyptian Pharoah as shown in the biblical and
    Jewish records.

Zedekiah (whose name was changed from Mathanicah by the King of Babylon),
King of Judah 619-587 B.C. being the last of the Kings. His daughter Tea
Tephi, who flourished 580 B.C., married Heremon Ecphaid, King of Ireland
(grandson of the Egyptian Pharoah mentioned in the Exodus, whose daugher,
Scota, married Milesues, father of Hermon Eochard (supra) who reighned
fifteen years. She took with her the Stone of Scone (the Pillow of Rock)
used by Jacob when he had his historical dream, which today remains with her
descendant, the Queen of Great Britian and is used at the English
    coronations.

No portrait of Robert Jefferis exists, but tradition of his personal
appearance and character handed down by his children and neighbors from
generation to generation is that he was a man of fine physique, about 6 feet
tall, of good manners and dignified bearing, cordial and hospitable and one
who enjoyed the pleasures of social life. He was noted as a man of energy,
industry and business capacity, whose judgement was consulted in private and
    public affairs.

After Jane Chandler died, Robert married Anne Archer in 1729.

Robert married Jane CHANDLER in 1693 in Of, Chichester, Delaware, Pennsylvania. Jane (daughter of George CHANDLER and Jane SMITH) was born on 9 Jul 1676 in Oare, Wilcot, Wiltshire, England; was christened in in Pewsey, Wiltshire, England; died in 1726 in Chester, Chester Co., Pennsylvania; was buried in 1726 in Chester, Chester Co., Pennsylvania.
