Hywel Dda (dda = the Good) King of All Wales succeeded as King of Dyfed jure uxoris ca.904. King of Seiswyllwg 909, king of Gwynedd 942. He did homage to King Edward the Elder in 918 and to King Athelstan in 926. Went on a pilgrimage to Rome in 928, was the only Welsh ruler to mint his own coinage of silver pennies.
