Notes - Isaac traveled to the California Gold Rush in 1849 and returned from there to Macon County, Illinois where he purchased a lot of farm land with the money he made in the Gold Rush in California. He was one of the first settlers in that part of
the country.
About 1869 he settled in Marysville Twp., Miami County, Kansas with his wife and family. Many of his adult children followed him and settled on farms in the area also.
He died at the home of his son, Benton Gruver on 16 Oct 1885. Old Hillsdale Cemetery records in Hillsdale, Miami County, Kansas listed his date of death as 16 Oct 1886..( It was October 16, 1886 per Old Hillsdale Cemetery, Hillsdale, Miami
County, Kansas records).
For this, our Family Tree, I will go with the Cemetery Records until I find something more on Isaac's date of birth. This is what was said about him in the County Paper: "Isaac Gruver, Sr., was one of nature's noblemen, honest, kind , brave,
good and charitable. Note: The aforesaid was taken from "Our Heritage, The History of Hillsdale, Kansas (book 1) 1961. The author is Don Everhart .
