      Thomas de Monthermer, Lord Monthermer, was constantly employed in the military service of the crown, his name, therefore, does not occur in the enrolment of the summonses to parliament. He was killed in a sea fight with the French in 1340, leaving by Margaret, his wife, an only dau. and heiress, Margaret de Monthermer.
