Notes - On August 11, 1850, when the census enumerator visited the Josiah Tull family, near the Sand Creek Settlement in Shelby County, Illinois, they found Josiah and Margaret Tull raising 7 children on the family farm. According to this census, the members of the family had some interesting geography amongst them. Josiah Tull reported as being a machinist, born in North Carolina and Margaret said she was born in Virignia. Their 20 -year-old daughter, Elizabeth Tull, was born in Illinois. Based on the ages and birthplaces of three of the children, the family spent some half a dozen years in Tennessee: Brazamon Daniel Tull, age 17; Josiah Simpson Tull, age 13; and Elijah Butler Tull were all born in Tennessee. The three younger children were all born in Illinois: John William Tull, Margaret Isabell Tull, age 2; and Joshua Butler Tull, age 9 months.
