  George Thorpe, Esq., was the son of Nicholas Thorpe, of Wanswell Court, Gloucestershire, by his first wife, May Wikes, alias Mason, neice of Sir John Mason, a councillor of State, and was a grandson of Thomas Thorpe and Margaret Throckmorton.
