Notes |
- Lt. Elijah Sacket was born in Sheffield, Mass. Prior to the start of the Revolution he moved with his parents to New Lebanon, Columbia County, NY. Shortly after his marriage in 1789, he and Dorothy settled in Hartford, Washington Co. NY. Eligah was a farmer. After moving to Washington Co. He became interested in local military affairs. After serving for several years as a private and non-commissioned officer, he was commissioned first as an Ensign and later as a Lt. in Washington Co. Regiment. In 1809, Elijah, Dorothy and their five children moved to Fowler, St Lawrence Co NY. His death in 1812, was the first death in Fowler.
I have no ex plantation why the extra 'T' was added to the names of Elijah and Dorothy's children's names. The previous generations had all used one 'T'. Sally Gustafson. Feb 1999.
