- Louis was a Gold Miner. Built the Bald Hills Hotel in Brisbane and a blacksmith shop at Eight Mile Plains. About 1895 Louis left Queensland for the Western Australian mining fields and was followed by his sons Charles Allen and Louis junior. The Brisbane Hotels and Publicans Index shows Louis Webb as the publican of the Eight Mile Plains hotel from 1892 to 1895.Louis in his obituary was described as "an old prospector of the Eastern Goldfields.
