    • My Grandfather, George Brainard Alderman, noted William came from England. "A in A" pg 20 says he might have been born around 1640 (another record says 1656); pg 11 notes he could have been born in MA or even Windsor, CN. My mother, Edna Alderman, wrote: "I have a note in Dad's handwriting sayng 'William Alderman came from England (evidentally he was born in England). He settled in Windsor, CN in 1672, died in Symsbury 1697'"
William moved from Windsor to Farmington and Simsbury where he married Mary CASE (Puritan Settlers of Connecticut" by Hinman, pg 31): "William Alderman, of Windsor 1672, Farmington and Simsbury, married Mary Case, daughter of John Case, at Simsbury in 1679. William Alderman died in 1697 leaving a considerable landed estate to his widow, who married second, Serj. James Hillyer in 1698". William had business in all 3 towns; traded land & held extensive real estate; he and Mary Case had 6 children, 3rd one being John. All children born in Simsbury.

"Aldermans in America" by William Alderman Parker, 1957: one owned by Brainard Lewis (later by Marcia Chesnicka & given to Robert Telford in July, 1998) and 2nd: Grandfather Sheldon's. Pages 1-14 describe Aldermans "in Old England."

BIOGRAPHY: William Alderman was born about 1640, parentage unknown. It is not known whether he was born in Colonial Connecticut or was an immigrant from England. He is first found in 1672 in Windsor where he made a land transaction. It was also in Windsor that he married Mary Case. William and Mary lived in Windsor and later in Farmington, and even later in Simsbury. Both Mary and William are buried in Simsbury. After the death of William the younger generation moved to New York and New Jersey and other parts of the eastern coast. Many of them moved into southeastern North Carolina, settling in New Hanover, Duplin and Sampson Counties. From there, they dispersed throughout the southern states with many of them settling in "Wiregrass Georgia".
