  • Notes
    • BIOGRAPHY: There were apparently three brothers, sons of John Ellsworth, that left England because of religious persecution. Josiah was the 2nd to leave. Josiah's Name first appears on the Windsor Town Records in connection with his marriage; and, the same year he bought a house and lot south of the Rivulet (and near the Old Mill) on what was afterwards known as the Gillet place, opposite the residence of the late Hon. N. H. Barber. In 1655 he bought the property later known as the Chief Justice Ellsworth place. He was a juror in 1664; made freeman 21 May, 1667. Children are listed in the Ellsworth Genealogy and the Mathew Grant Record.
