Notes - Captain DANIEL McCARTY, of Cople Parish, Westmoreland County, the son of Dennis and Eliza (Billington) McCarty of Northumberland County, was born in 1679, and died May 4, 1724. His WILL proved the fifth month and twenty-seventh day of that year, disposed of a large estate (?,Montross, Westmoreland) He was a Justice of Westmoreland County Court from 1706, if not earlier; Burgess 1706, and Speaker of the House 1715 to 1720; High Sheriff 1710 to 1711, Burgess 1720 to 1722. He married first, Mrs. Sarah PAYNE, widow of James Payne, and second (mentioned in his will) Ann LEE, the daughter of Richard and Lettice Corbin Lee, and the widow of Colonel William Fitzhugh.
