Sophia, their eldest daughter, was my aunt, was born Dec. 12, 1790; John Stockton, born May 10, 1791; Rachel Stockton, my aunt, born May 10 1793; Thomas Stockton, my uncle, born 1795; James Stockton, my father, born Oct. 9, 1797; Polly Stockton, by aunt, born March 18, 1799; Jemima Stockton, my aunt, born March 15, 1801; Hannah Stockton, my aunt, born Feb. 9, 1809; Those above are my grand parents and their children, my uncles and aunts."

With Thomas 4 Stockton shown as born in 1788, this is an excellent match for what both DAVIS STOCKTON OF VIRGINIA and T.J. Stockton have for the family of Jesse 3 and Mary (nee Hays) Stockton. It does not appear that T.J. Stockton included any additional information about Thomas 4 Stockton besides his name and year of birth. The mother of Mary (nee Hays) Stockton was Sophia (nee Wood) Hays.
20 Oct 1812 Sophia 4 Stockton, daughter of Jesse and Mary (nee Hays) Stockton, married William Evans in Barren County, Kentucky. Thomas Stockton, Jr., was the surety. He appears to be Thomas 3 (Thomas 2, Davis 1) Stockton, Jr.
