Settled in/moved to in 1636 in Hartford, CT (one of first settlers). Senior Warden, St. Mary's, Great Bentley, Essex, England [Virkus1 867]
Came to America with his family from England on the ship "Increase" (Mr. Robert Lea, master) starting in April 1635.
Moved to Hartford, CT in about 1636. His name is on a monument in honor of the first settlers of Hartford, CT [Virkus 867]
Later moved to Norfolk. Was one of Winthrop's Outposts on the Connecticutt River 1636-1637. Was a surveyor of highways from 1639-1647 [Virkus1 867].
Moved to Norwalk, CT in 1650 where he was among the first settlers. Was Deputy to the General Court in 1653 (or 1654). -------------- Torrey, p 493:
They sailed from London between the 13th and the 18th of April 1635 on the Increase, Mr. Robert Lea, master bound to New England. Mathew Marvin, husbandman 35, his wife Elizabeth 31, Mathew Marvynn 8, Marie Marvynn 6,Sara Marvynn 3, Hanna Marvynn 6 months. They arrived in June of 1635 at either Boston or Salem, Massachusetts. Matthew was an early member of the 1st Church of Hartford, Connecticut where his name is on the Founders Monument. In 1650 they moved to Norwalk, Connecticut where he was again among the first settlers. I am not sure how one can conclude any more from the above than that Elizabeth's surname MAY have been GREGORY.
BTW taking a quick look at the NEHGR CDs there are a lot of ref's to Mathew MARVIN but on the first CD there is an article "Genealogical Sketch of the DESCENDANTS of REINOLD AND MATHEW MARVIN, WHO CAME TO NEW ENGLAND in 1635." [Compiled from authentic sources by TR Marvin, Boston] The article is in Volume 16 p 235-254 (July 1862). It mentions Matthew's first wife had the Christian name of Elizabeth and that his second wife was Alice KELLOG. His first wife is listed as having come with him from England in 1635.

MATTHEW MARVYN (or Marvin) was baptized at Great Bentley, 26 Mar. 1600. He received from his father's estate, the mansion house called "Edons alias Dreybrocks". He was a "Sydeman" of the parish of Great Bentley in 1621, overseer in 1627, and senior warden in 1628. He sailed for New England in the ship named Increase in 1635 with his family, landing in June of that year. He was one of the early settlers at Hartford, Conn. being there in Nov. 1635. He also owned land in Farmington and in 1651 he was at Norwalk where he died between 26 Dec. 1678, date of his will, and 13 July 1680, the date of the inventory of his estate. He married firstly, at Great Bentley, Elizabeth _____, who died in 1642. He married secondly, about 1647, Alice, widow of John Bouton. Children by the first wife: i. Elizabeth, born at Great Bentley, about 1624, came to New England with her parents in 1635; married at Hartford, Dr. John Olmstead, of Hartford. ii. Matthew, born at Great Bentley, about 1627, came to New England with his parents in 1635; married Mary. iii. Mary, see below. iv. Sarah, born at Great Bentley, about 1632, came to New England with her parents in 1635; married (1) William Goodrich; (2) Capt. William Curtis. v. Hannah, born at Great Bentley, about 1634, came to New England with her parents in 1635; married Thomas Seymour of Norwalk, Conn. vi. Matthew Marvin was at Hartford 1638, an original proprietor, came in the "Increase," 1635, from London, aged 35, a husbandman. He was one of the original grantees of Norwalk, and sett. there 1653, rep. next yr. [Savage's Genealogical Dictionary]

Reinold Marvin, who removed to Saybrook in 1639, and his brother Matthew Marvin were among the original settlers of Hartford, Conn. represented the town of Norwalk in the General Court in 1654.
