  Listed on the 1838 Newton County, GA Census and on the 1840 Federal Newton County census page 33. Listed on the 1850 Newton County, GA census page 445. Also listed is Sarah Matthews age 83, Sarah's mother & Jeremiah's wife. Also listed is Mary Bacon age 16. Listed on the 1860 Fulton County, GA Census page 951 Listed on the 1880 Decatur County, Georgia census page 232B is Nicholas living with daughter-in-law Mary and granddaughter Katy Peacock. Sarah is not listed suggesting she died between 1860 & 1880. We are not sure which Bacon son the daughter-in-law Mary Bacon was married to. She is lsited as 44 years old on the 1880 census making her born about 1836. From her age we feel that she was the wife of Nicholas Hobson Bacon Jr. who was born in 1835. The other two sons James born in 1844 and Robert born in 1849 we feel were too young to be her husband. We cannot find any information on Nicholas Jr. He could have died in the war but can't find any record of his service. The grandaughter Katy Peacock is listed as 22 which would make her born about 1858. We cannot match her to any Nicholas & Sarah's daughters. Peacock could be her maiden name or she could have been married. Copies of Bacon/Matthews Family Bible list birth/death/marriage dates of family.
