- It was said she was the favourite niece of her uncle Sir Rowland Hill, Mayor of London 1559. He raised her husband Thomas Leigh and arranged the marriage between them.
Her mother was Elizabeth Hill, sister of the said Sir Rowland Hill, and father was John Barker.
She married Thomas Leigh shortly before March 13 1536, and had 4 sons and 5 daughters.
Eldest son was Rowland of Adlestrop
2nd son Sir Thomas Leigh of Stoneleigh
3rd son Sir William of Newham Regis
There was a 4th son but he was not generally counted in most historical records, Richard, who died w/o issue 1570.
Of the 5 daughters:
Mary, married 1) Rich'd Cobbe esq, 2) Rob't Andrews esq of London.
Alice,married Thomas Connye (Coney)
Katherine, married Edward Baber (Barber)
Winifred, married Sir George Bond
Isobel, mentioned in her father's will
She lived a long life, and even saw her 4th generations of great grandchildren. She died in 1603/4 and buried at Stoneleigh.
