Notes - See The Great Migration and The Great Migration Begins, 1620-1635, attached under Sources.
From this source we learn that John Johnson L24D-D7S was originally from Strood, Kent, and came to New England in 1635 on the James (on 13 July 1635, "John Johnson," aged 26, "Suzan Johnson," aged 24, "Eliza[beth] Johnson," aged 2, and "Tho[mas] Johnson," aged 18 months, were enrolled at London as passengers for New England on the James.)
John lived first in Ipswich but removed in 1657 to Andover.
Children believed to belong to John and his wife Susan. born in England:
1. Elizabeth Johnson
2. Thomas Johnson
Children born, probably in Ipswich, no birth record:
3. Mary Johnson
4. Stephen Johnson
5. Hannah Johnson
6. Timothy Johnson
7. Susanna Johnson
8. Joanna Johnson
9. William Johnson
We believe that the christening record for Elizabeth in Strood, Kent, from 1 November 1631, belongs to this family. Likewise, we believe that the christening record for Thomas in Stood, Kent, 28 July 1633, also belongs to this family. See some of the relationships which make this more likely in the Great Migration source referenced above.
There is good evidence for Elizabeth and Thomas as children of John and Suzan, and also evidence for Hannah and Stephen. The evidence for the other children - Mary, Timothy, Susanna, Joanna, and William - is scant.
It is likely that he was still alive when his wife died, as she is mentioned as the wife of John Johnson in her death record, and not the widow of John Johnson. The exact date of his death is unknown, but is speculated to be between 1685 and 1688. He is likely buried in the Andover old burying ground, but this is just speculation.
