  Biography Thomas Hoo, Knt. [1] Birth and Parentage Thomas was born about 1370. [2] Thomas Hoo's birth date is not found, but he married his 1st wife before 18 Feb 1394/5, and if was 21 in 1394, then his estimated date of birth would be 1373. However, his first wife Eleanor was already a widow when they married, age 20 in 1381, and therefore born in 1361. This would suggest an earlier birth date for Thomas Hoo, say, 1360. However, Thomas Hoo's mother was born in 1343, and so a compromise guess for Thomas' birthdate would be 1363, when his mother would have been 20. He was son and heir of William de Hoo, Knt, by Alice de Saint Omer. [1] Estates Luton Hoo (in Luton), Bedfordshire Stamshaw, Hampshire Brunkle and Mulbarton, Norfolk Ockley, Surrey Wartling, Sussex[1] First Marriage to Eleanor Felton He married (1st) before 18 Feb 1394/5 (dagte of demise) Eleanor Felton, widow of Robert de Ufford, Knt (living 7 Jan 1389/90, died before 1393. She was daughter and co-heiress of of Thomas de Felton, K. G. She was born about 1361 (aged 20 in 1381) Eleanor died 8 August 1400. The issue of this marriage was Thomas Hoo, later created Knight of the Garter and Baron Hoo and Hastings. [1] Second Marriage to Elizabeth Echingham Sir Thomas Hoo married (2nd) after 15 Jan 1414/1415 Elizabeth Echingham, daughter of William Echingham, Knt, of Etchingham and Udimore, Sussex, by his 1st wife, Alice, daughter and co-eiress of William Batisford. They had one son, Thomas, Esq.[1] Knight Sir Thomas Hoo fought for King Henry V in the Hundred Years War between England and Franch and took part in the 1415 Battle of Agincourt. [1] Death Sir Thomas Hoo died 23 August 1420. [1] Widow's Remarriage His widow, Elizabeth, married (2nd) before Michaelmas 1426 (as his 2nd wife) Thomas Lewknor, Knt, of Horsted Keynes, Sussex, etc. They have five sons, John, Knt, Thomas, Richard, Esq, Walter and Nicholas, and three daughters, Alice (wife of John Pelham, Knt), Jane (wife of Thomas Goode), and Joan (wife of Henry Frowick.) [1] Sir Thomas Lewknor died in 1452, and Elizabeth survived him. Elizabeth left a will dated 21 March 1450, proved 23 Feb 1464 (P. C. C. 8 and 59 Godyn).[1] Sources Magna Carta Ancestry 2011 2nd ed.
