update 8/29/2022 by Effie Williams and ABH843:

Per the above source for CHARLES WILLIAMS, if this Charles Williams died in 1738, it could not be him in the above record. And, his son "Dr. Charles Williams III," was b. in 1722, so not of legal age to be the Charles Williams mentioned in the Court record above.

That fact, plus sources found in Prince George County indicate that the Charles Williams referenced above was the CHARLES WILLIAMS [L6JF-124] who married ANN, this Charles Williams father. That CHARLES WILLIAMS was the son of MARY JONES and JOHN WILLIAMS of Prince George County, VA. He was also the brother of the JAMES WILLIAMS, mentioned in the above record. Charles Williams and Ann also had a son named CHARLES, who was born in Prince George County, Virginia in 1722 (per the Bristol Parish Records).

The above record, which also mentioned a "Robert Abernathy, Junior," appeared to possibly indicate that "Dr. Charles Williams III" might actually be the son of Charles Williams and Ann his wife -- however, further research of Dr. Charles Williams III in the records of Tryon and Lincoln County, VA showed no connections between these two Williams families. The descendants of Charles and Ann Williams also moved to Tryon County, NC from Brunswick and Dinwiddie Counties -- however, after the division of Tryon County into Lincoln and Rutherford Counties, the descendants of Charles and Ann Williams were all living in Rutherford County, and the descendants of Charles and Elizabeth Williams, parents of "Dr. Charles Williams" were all living in Lincoln County -- and I could find no connections between their two families in North Carolina.

That said -- there could well be a connection between these two Williams families in Prince George County, Virginia in the very early 1700s.
