  In the records of the second and fourth child it lists the mother's maiden name as Barbara Bchlin and Barbara Bechlerin, respectively (Doc.#3,5) . The -in wa3 a feminine suffix and is dropped, therefore her surname would have been "Ba-chler". There were people by that name in the Freckenfeld records, but that was not searched at this time. 1737 - Germany Doc. # 13 Records of Lutheran Church, Freckenfeld Parish ( Bavarian - Pfalz ) Christenings 1722 - 1737 ( FHL film # 247602 ) On the 1st May (1737) in the evening, Johann Ludwig Riedweyler, Citizen and yarn weaver here, and wife Barbara, maiden name Bachlin, had a son born and on 5th May was officially Christened and named Johannes. Christening witnesses were: Johannes Helck, legitimate son of Johann Ludwig Helcken, citizen here. It's interesting to note that almost undoubtedly Barbara Bchler was related to the Anthony Bieller-Buhler-Peeler family that I sent tn the last report and Michael Peeler who married Margaret Redwine may have been first cousins. Notice in the christening (if Ludwig Riedweil's fourth child the godmother was Anna Margretha, wife of David Bechler. This would be a good point to do research for the next time if you wish. Dear Dick, I have extracted the records of the Evangelische Kirche Freckenfeld, using only FHL film # 0247602 and the results were not as fruitful as I had hoped. As you can see, there were only two families residing in Freckenfeld, having children, in the years 1722-1760. I have extracted all possible data. Marriage records 1742-1760: Married on the 22 Oct 1744 were Ludwig David BECHLER also called Johann David BECHLER later on, a widower & Anna Margarethe, daughter of Martin BURCKHARDT. This was the only marriage entry listed, with the ancestral surnames, during the time period searched. The next part on the film were the christenings 1738-1779, records were searched from 1738 to 1760, following were the christenings1722-1737, both sections were searched also death records from 1738-1751, and the following entries were listed: Johann David BAECHLER and wife Magdalene had the following children: i. Catharina Elisabetha BAECHLER, born 28 Mar 1728 ii. Johann Ludwig BAECHLER, born 5 Nov 1730 (witness was Johann Ludwig RIEDWEYL, a weaver, son of the deceased Friedrich RIEDWEYL) iii. Johannes BAECHLER, born 29 Mar 1733 iv. Johann Michael BAECHLER, born 17 Apr 1735 v. Maria Catharina BAECHLER, born 29 Apr 1736 vi. Johann Jacob BAECHLER, born 15 July 1738, christened 20 July 1738 vii. Maria Catharina BAECHLER, born 27 Nov 1740, christened 30 Nov 1740 She died on the 28 April 1742, age 1 year 5 month less 1 day. On the 8 July 1742 died Anna Magdalena, wife of David BAECHLER. They had been married for 15 years and 4 month (about 1727). She gave birth to 5 sons and 3 daughters of whom 2 sons and 1 daughter are still alive. She reached the age of 36 years, 4 month and 15 days. According to the statement about the children, we are missing one child, a son. I did not find the birth, perhaps he was born somewhere else, in a different place. After the death of his wife, the widower Ludwig David BECHLER married on 22 Oct 1744 his second wife, Anna Margarethe, daughter of Martin BURCKHARDT. They had the following children born in Freckenfeld. viii. Eva Elisabetha BAECHLER, born 4 Dec 1745, christened 5 Dec 1745 xi. Marie Johanna BAECHLER, christened on 24 Aug 1748 xii. Eva Margaretha BAECHLER, born 26 Oct 1750, christened 28 Oct 1750 xiii. Johann Ludwig BAECHLER, born 17 Apr 1753, christened 19 Apr 1753 We need to remember, that the marriage records only start in 1736, earlier marriage can not be found, that is why a marriage for your parents can not be found here. Johannes RIEDWYLER and Magdalena had the following children born in Freckenfeld.: i. Maria Catharina RIEDWEILEN, born 1 Aug 1723 no other children were found. Ludwig RIEDWEYL, resident and weaver, and Barbara BAECHLER had the following children born and christened in Cathrinhagen.: i. Johann Michael RIEDWEILEN, born 22 Mar 1733 ii. Johannes RIEDWEYL, born 1 May 1737, christened 5 May 1737 iii Johann Ludwig RIEDWEYL, born 4 Dec 1740, christened 8 Dec 1740 iv. Anna Margaretha RIEDWEYL, born 18 Feb 1745, chr. 21 Feb 1745 This ends the extraction for Freckenfeld from 1722-1760. Results: 1. We have added a new family, the family of Ludwig David BAECHLER. I believe that Ludwig David BAECHLER was a brother to Barbara BAECHLER. 2. The father of Johann Ludwig RIEDWEYER/ RIEDWEILER was Friedrich RIEDWEYL, who was deceased in 1730.
