  Biography It is believed that two of the Compton girls, married two James Oliphant. Mary Compton married James Oliphant Polly Compton married James Glass Oliphant in Sept 1979. TWO distinct and DIFFERENT Oliphant family lines, often confused by researchers as one line with overlapping offspring of impossible proportions. Mary was born in 1770 - 1773. She was the daughter of William Compton and Charity Leiper. James Oliphint and Mary Polly Compton were married on 01 SEP 1797 in Davidson County, Tennessee, USA.
